Dispatching calls

Create a call, send the right units, keep it moving and close it. Most of it is one key.

New calls

In-game 911 calls arrive by themselves. To open one yourself, press N. Pick a type (it sets a sensible priority), add the location, or click the pin to drop it on the map, and what happened. For a chase, pick the suspect under Track a suspect and the call follows them live.

Sending units

Select the call and press D, or click the Send button. The CAD recommends units that are:

  • the right kind: fire and EMS for fires and medical calls, DOT for road hazards, police for everything else;
  • free: Available, not on another call;
  • nearest, by their position in the game.

Fires and top-priority calls get two units. To pick someone yourself, use Attach unit. It lists everyone nearest first, with their distance in studs. Units on another call are listed too. Attaching them moves them over.

To take a unit off a call, press the x next to it in the call's unit list, or right-click the unit and choose Detach. Detach all clears every unit off the call at once. A unit can always leave a call itself with Leave call. Detached units go back to available and get an in-game message saying so.

Stacking a call on a busy unit

When the best unit is busy, stack the call on them: Stack in the call's actions, or right-click the unit. The board shows Next #5 on their row. The moment they clear their current call, they are put on the stacked one, and told in-game.

Keeping it moving

  • Priority: change it from the call's actions.
  • Status: click a step. Units moving en route or on scene move the call for you.
  • Notes: type in Add a note and press Enter. Units on the call can add notes too.
  • Premise notes: Premise note under At postal adds a note to the address, like an armed occupant or a dog in the yard. Every future call there shows it, and the queue marks it.
  • Earlier calls here: the call lists other calls at the same postal, so repeat addresses stand out.
  • Pursuits: Track a suspect makes the call follow that player live on the map.

Merging duplicates

Three 911 calls about one crash? Select one and choose Merge. The closest open calls are listed first. Its units and notes move to the call you keep, and the duplicate closes saying where it went.

Closing and undo

Press C, or click Close call, and add a disposition if you like. Its units become Available. Closed by mistake? The confirmation has an Undo button for a few seconds. It reopens the call and puts its units back if they are still free.
