Reports
Every call leaves its paperwork behind: a dispatch report written by the CAD, and an incident report for the officers to finish.
Made for you when a call closes
When a call that units worked is closed, the CAD makes two reports:
- Dispatch report: written by the CAD and final at once. Call times (received, first unit, on scene, closed), response time, the units, the people and vehicles involved, the full timeline and the disposition.
- Incident report: a draft for the officers on the call, already filled with the location, type, people, vehicles and the call's notes. A prompt with Open report appears when you close the call.
Calls closed with nobody on them make no reports. Reopen and close a call again and its dispatch report is brought up to date. The incident report already being written is kept.
Report types
| Report | What it records |
|---|---|
| Incident report | Classification, offense, location, time, disposition, people and vehicles, property and evidence, narrative. |
| Arrest report | Arrestee, place and time of arrest, charges from your law book with fines and jail time, rights, search, transport, narrative. |
| Use of force report | Subject, force used, reason, injuries, medical aid, narrative. |
| Traffic collision report | Location, vehicles, drivers and passengers, injuries, conditions, cause, narrative. |
| Supplemental report | More detail added to a call after its reports were submitted. |
Start one from a call's Write a report link, from New report on the Reports page, or from CtrlK. Reports started from a call pick up its location, people and vehicles.
Writing and submitting
The editor saves as you type. Draft from the call adds a first draft of the narrative built from the call's timeline, which you check and fix. Submit signs the report with your name and callsign. A narrative is required, and an arrest report needs at least one charge.
Review
Supervisors see submitted reports under To review. Approve closes it out. Send back returns it to the officer with a note saying what to fix. Nobody approves their own report.
Printing and PDFs
Every report reads as a clean paper document: your department and server at the top, the report number, the facts in boxes, the narrative, and the signature. Print or save PDF prints just the document, and your browser's print dialog can save it as a PDF.
