Docs Step-by-step guides
Set up County Control from scratch
Add the bot, connect your ER:LC server and post your first live sessions panel in about ten minutes.
This is the order to do things in when County Control is new to your server. Each step links to a longer guide if you want the details.
Before you start
- You need the Administrator permission in your Discord server (the server owner always has it).
- The person who owns the ER:LC private server needs to be around for one click in step 3.
- Commands start with
/. Type/in any channel, then the command name, and Discord shows a box for each option. You can also type the prefix version,t!command, but the slash version is easier.
Steps
1. Add the bot
Open the invite link on cc.pcdev.dev and pick your server. Keep the permissions it asks for.
You see: a "Thanks for adding County Control" message in your system channel with the quick start.
2. Open the checklist
Type /setup.
You see: a private panel only you can see, with each step marked Done, To do or Optional, and the command that fixes each one. It also has two buttons: Sessions → this channel and Log events → this channel. Keep it open. Press Refresh after each step below.
3. Connect your ER:LC server
Type /seterlc key:YOUR-SERVER-KEY, then have the ER:LC server owner open the link it gives you. Full walkthrough: Connect your ER:LC server.
You see: "ER:LC key saved and working, connected to Your Server (0/40 players)", plus the one-time authorize link.
4. Pick your sessions channel and ping role
Go to the channel where sessions should post and press Sessions → this channel on the /setup panel (or type /session channel channel:#sessions). Then type /session notify role:@Session Ping.
You see: "Session panels will post in #sessions." and "Sessions will ping @Session Ping."
5. Post the live panel
In the sessions channel type /sessions.
You see: a panel showing players, queue, staff and the join code. It updates by itself every few seconds, so you never post it again. Full walkthrough: Post a live sessions panel.
6. Pick a log channel
Go to a staff-only channel and press Log events → this channel on the /setup panel.
You see: "Events will log to #your-channel." Joins, leaves, deleted messages and moderation go there.
7. Add what else you need
Each of these is its own guide. Do them in any order, or not at all:
- Run start-up votes
- Set up tickets
- Promotions and infractions
- Shifts and quotas
- Applications
- Moderation
If something goes wrong
- I type
/setupand nothing shows up. Discord can take a minute to show a new bot's commands. Close and reopen Discord (Ctrl+R on desktop). If it still is not there, check the bot is in the member list. - "Only an admin can run setup." You need the Administrator permission. Ask the server owner to run it or give you a role with Administrator.
/setuptells me to runsetsessionsorsessionnotify. Those are the old names. Use/session channeland/session notify, which do the same thing.- Still stuck. Open a ticket in the Cordyx Discord (discord.gg/S5usAfJZ5Q) and say which step number you are on.
