Run start-up votes and sessions
Post a start-up vote, start a session when enough people vote, and shut it down cleanly.
A start-up vote (SSU) asks members if they will join. When it reaches the goal, County Control starts the session by itself: the vote disappears and the live panel posts with a ping. When you are done, shutdown ends it and runs :shutdown in your ER:LC server.
Before you start
- Connect your ER:LC server, including the owner's one-time approval. Without it the shutdown cannot run
:shutdownin-game. - Set the sessions channel and ping role: steps 1 and 2 of Post a live sessions panel.
Steps
1. Let your hosts run sessions (optional)
By default only Administrators can start and end sessions. To let a role such as Session Host do it, type /session role role:@Session Host.
You see: "@Session Host can now run sessions." Admins keep their access.
2. Post a vote
Type /ssu vote goal:6 (6 is the default if you leave it out).
You see: a "Server Start-Up Vote" panel in the sessions channel with a Vote to Start button and a Start Session button. The ping role is notified.
3. Members vote
Members press Vote to Start. Pressing it again takes the vote back.
You see: the panel counts down: "3 more vote(s) needed to reach 6."
4. The session starts
When the goal is reached the session starts by itself. A host can also press Start Session early, or skip the vote entirely with /ssu start.
You see: the vote is removed and the live panel posts with the ping role mentioned.
5. End the session
Type /ssu shutdown, or press End session on the live panel.
You see: a "Session ended" message with how long it ran and the peak player count. :shutdown runs in-game.
Change it later
- Reword the vote:
/session textand pick any of the "SSU vote" messages. Placeholders{votes},{goal}and{needed}work there. - Rename the buttons:
/session text event:SSU vote, Vote button labelorSSU vote, Start button label. - Banner on the vote:
/session banner slot:SSU vote panel. - Remove the session role again: run
/session rolewith no role.
If something goes wrong
- "You need to be an admin or hold the session role to start the session." Give the person the role you set with
/session role. - "A session is already running. End it first." Run
/ssu shutdownfirst. - "There's no active start-up vote." That vote already started or was replaced. Post a new one.
- Shutdown did not run in-game. The server owner has not approved the link from
/erlc authorizeyet.
