Post a live sessions panel

One message in your sessions channel that shows players, queue, staff and the join code, and keeps itself up to date.

3 minutesAdministrator (posting), anyone (reading)

The sessions panel is the "Game Server Information" message many ER:LC servers keep at the top of a channel. You post it once. County Control edits that same message every few seconds with the live player count, queue, staff in-game and join code. When a session starts or ends the panel switches between open and closed by itself.

Before you start

  • Your ER:LC server is connected: Connect your ER:LC server.
  • You have the Administrator permission.
  • Make a channel for it, for example #sessions, where members can read but not type. County Control needs to be able to send messages there.

Steps

1. Tell the bot which channel to use

Type /session channel channel:#sessions.

You see: "Session panels will post in #sessions."

2. Pick the role that gets pinged

Make a role such as Session Ping, then type /session notify role:@Session Ping.

You see: "Sessions will ping @Session Ping." Members can give themselves this role with the Session Role button on the panel.

3. Post the panel

Type /sessions in any channel.

You see: the panel appears in #sessions (your command message disappears). It shows an Online or Offline chip, players, queue, staff, the join code, and two buttons: Start session (or End session) and Session Role.

4. Leave it alone

That is it. The panel updates itself about every 6 seconds while the bot is running. Do not delete it. If you run /sessions again in the same channel, the new panel replaces the old one.

Make it yours

Want to write the whole message yourself, like an old "Game Server Information" post? Use /session layout: Write your own Game Server Information panel.

To keep the standard panel and only change parts of it, use these. All need Administrator and show you a preview straight away.

What you want Command
See every setting and what you changed /session show
Reword the open or closed panel /session text event:Panel, session open message:...
Change a heading (session started, ended, full, low) /session title
Use your own banner image /session banner slot:Live session panel image:(attach)
Footer image under every session panel /session banner slot:Footer image on every session panel
Change an emoji on the panel /session emoji
Hide the join code, staff or queue chip /session elements
Ping when the server is full or players are low /session alerts and /session limits
Undo all wording changes /session reset

Wording can use placeholders. County Control swaps them for live values every time the panel updates:

Placeholder Becomes
{role} the ping role
{server} your ER:LC server name
{players} / {max} players in-game and the player cap
{queue} players waiting in the queue
{staff} staff in-game
{code} the join code
{elapsed} how long the session has been running

Example: /session text event:Panel, session open message:We are live with {players}/{max} players. Join code {code}. Grab {role} for the next one.

To put a message back to the default, run the same /session text command and leave message empty.

Tip
The Wording and Branding pages on https://cc.pcdev.dev/dashboard/ do the same with a live preview, which is the easiest way to rewrite a whole panel.

If something goes wrong

  • The panel says Offline and 0 players but people are in-game. The ER:LC key is missing or wrong. Run /setup and check the ER:LC server-key row, or see Connect your ER:LC server.
  • The panel stopped updating. Someone deleted it, or the bot lost permission to see the channel. Run /sessions again.
  • "You need Manage Server to change the sessions setup." You need the Administrator permission for /session settings.
  • My custom emoji shows as text like <:name:123>. Use an emoji from your own server or a standard one. The bot refuses emojis from servers it is not in.
  • The banner did not change. Banners show on panels posted after the change. Run /sessions again.
  • Nobody gets pinged. Set the role with /session notify, and check the role is mentionable or the bot has Mention Everyone.
