Moderate your Discord and ER:LC server
Warn, time out, kick and ban members with one command each, with every action saved as a numbered case and posted in a mod log.
At the end you can warn, time out, kick and ban people, ban them in your ER:LC server at the same time, and look up anyone's history. Every action becomes a numbered case, is posted in your mod log, and is sent to the person by DM.
Before you start
- By default only the server owner and members with Administrator can use these commands. To let your moderators use them, see Choose who can use each command.
- To ban people in-game as well, your ER:LC server must be connected. See Connect ER:LC.
- The bot's role must be above the people it acts on.
Steps
1. Pick a mod log channel
Type /mod settings log_channel:#mod-logs.
You see: a "Moderation settings" card showing the mod log channel, appeal link, whether members get DMs, and when warnings expire. Every case card is posted in that channel from now on.
Add appeal_link:https://... if banned members should see a link to appeal.
2. Warn someone
Type /warn member:@user reason:Spamming in general.
You see: a case card with the case number and how many active warnings they have. They get a DM.
Repeated warnings follow the warning ladder (step 6).
3. Time someone out
Type /timeout member:@user duration:1h reason:Arguing with staff. Use lengths like 10m, 1h or 1d. The most is 28 days. Remove it early with /untimeout member:@user.
4. Kick someone
Type /kick member:@user reason:Alt account.
5. Ban someone
- Permanent ban:
/ban user:@user reason:Exploiting - Temporary ban:
/ban user:@user duration:7d reason:Exploiting. A temporary ban lifts itself when it ends. - Ban in-game too: add
roblox:TheirRobloxName. The bot runs:banin your ER:LC server. - Someone who already left: put their user ID in
user.
You see: a case card. If you gave a Roblox name, it also says whether the in-game ban worked.
To ban a player only in-game, by Roblox name, use /erlc ban player:TheirRobloxName reason:RDM. Add duration:7d for a temporary ban.
Unban with /unban user_id:123456789012345678. If the ban named a Roblox user, they are unbanned in-game too.
6. Check the warning ladder
Type /mod ladder.
You see: a "Warning ladder" card. Out of the box it is:
- 3 warnings: Timeout for 1 hour
- 5 warnings: Kick
- 7 warnings: Permanent ban (and every warning after)
To change a step: /mod ladder step:1 warnings:2 action:Timeout for 6 hours. Set warnings:0 to switch a step off.
7. Look someone up
/logs user:@usershows their cases and notes, with paging./case number:42opens one case.
Change it later
- Fix the reason on a case:
/reason number:42 reason:New reason - Cancel a case made by mistake (it stays on record but counts for nothing):
/mod void number:42 reason:Wrong person - Stop a warning counting toward the ladder:
/mod pardon number:42 - Make warnings expire:
/mod settings warn_expiry_days:30 - Add a private note to someone's record (they are not told):
/mod note user:@user text:Watch for alts - See temporary bans that are still running:
/mod tempbans
If something goes wrong
- "You don't have access to this command here." The person is not an admin and has not been given the command. Add their role to each command on the dashboard's Permissions page.
- "That member is above my highest role, so Discord won't let me act on them." Drag the County Control role higher in Server Settings.
- "That member has an equal or higher role than you." You cannot act on someone at or above your own top role.
- "Discord refused the ban. Check that I have Ban Members." Give the bot's role Ban Members (and Kick Members, Moderate Members for kicks and timeouts).
- Cases are not showing up anywhere. No mod log is set. Do step 1. Cases are still saved and
/logsstill shows them. - "Changing the ladder needs Manage Server." Only people with Manage Server can change the ladder or mod settings. Anyone allowed to run
/modcan view them. - Voided a ban but they are still banned. Voiding does not lift anything. Use
/unbanor/untimeout.
